1920s: Roar or Yawn?
Use your technology skills to complete the following webquest.
You can copy and paste the questions onto a word document and then type in your answers if it's easier.

How were social values conflicted in the 1920s?
Directions: Your goal is to write a body paragraph answering the aim question above. Use your problem solving and technology skills to research the following questions. You will use a variety of websites. You must credit the website you use to answer each question. If you use Wikipedia, you must credit two other sites. If you do not, you will not receive credit. Remember to save your work throughout the assignment. When you write down the answers to your questions, make sure you understand what you write, so that you can use what you learned in your paragraph.
1) Explain the Red Scare in America after World War I.
2) What were the Palmer Raids?
3) Find an image and describe the events of the Sacco and Vanzetti case?
4) How did the Red Scare and the Sacco and Vanzetti case contribute to immigration laws?
5) Find an image of the rise of the Ku Klux Klan in the 1920s and explain why they gained popularity in this decade.
6) Find a political cartoon of the Teapot Dome Scandal and explain in your own words the meaning of the cartoon.
7) Find an image of President Calvin Coolidge.
8) List the Presidents in chronological order from Teddy Roosevelt to Calvin Coolidge.
9) Find an image of the Model T and describe the impact of the automobile for America.
10) Find two images of the new consumer appliances that Americans could purchase in the 1920s.
11) Describe the causes and effects of the 18th amendment (include prohibition, bootleggers, and speakeasies in your answer).
12) Explain the Scopes Trial. What roles did Clarence Darrow and William Jennings Bryan play in the trial?
13) Find a political cartoon or image surrounding the Scopes Trial. Summarize what is occurring in the cartoon.
14) Find an image of a flapper. How was the role of women changing?
15) What new careers were available to women in the 1920s?
